What is Liposuction?

Liposuction is the most commonly performed body contouring procedure worldwide. It removes stubborn fat deposits that resist diet and exercise — reshaping the body with precision and minimal scarring. Dr. Sinnet Roy uses modern techniques to achieve smooth, natural-looking contours.

Liposuction uses a thin tube (cannula) to dislodge and remove localised fat deposits from areas including the abdomen, flanks (love handles), thighs, arms, back, chin and neck.

It is a contouring procedure, not a weight-loss treatment. The best candidates are close to their ideal weight but have specific areas of disproportionate fat that have not responded to lifestyle measures.

Tumescent liposuction — Dr. Roy's preferred technique — involves injecting a fluid that makes fat easier to remove, reduces bleeding and improves recovery. Results are long-lasting when a healthy lifestyle is maintained.

What to expect

Liposuction is performed under general anaesthesia or sedation, typically taking 1–3 hours depending on the number of areas treated. Small incisions (3–4 mm) are made in discreet locations. A compression garment is fitted immediately after.

Recovery & results

A compression garment is worn for 4–6 weeks. Swelling is significant in the first 2 weeks, with the majority resolving by 6 weeks. Final contour results are visible at 3–6 months. Most patients return to desk work within 5–7 days.
